One of the traditions of the International Legal Technology Association’s annual conference is the release of the “ILTA/InsideLegal Technology Purchasing Survey.” This year’s 37-question poll was distributed to 697 law firms with 50+ attorneys, said JoAnna Forshee, CEO of InsideLegal.com and its sister company, Envision Agency. The survey generated a 16 percent response rate, with 114 ILTA member firms participating.
The 2012 poll “has been enhanced to include a more comprehensive breakout of past and future technology purchases; legal technology budget and purchasing authority questions; updated information on participants’ social media, publication, and blog preferences; and an in-depth analysis of cloud computing and mobility trends, including tablet usage and governance,” she says. Eighty-five percent of the survey respondents are director level or C-Level executives, and 89 percent have direct purchasing or purchasing committee responsibility.
