Records managers and information management professionals descended on McCormick Place in Chicago from September 23 to 25 to attend ARMA International’s 2012 Conference and Expo. While the exhibit hall was open, Kristi Perdue, ERMS (AIIM Electronic Records Management Specialist) and director of marketing at Viewpointe, presented some industry intelligence in the session, “Content Assessment: Kick-Starting Your IG Program With Content Analytics,” which I found of interest as a legal professional in search of predictive coding.
Legal professionals are faced with growing volumes of data to cull for e-discovery — and escalating costs. Advanced technologies such as content clustering, message threading, and predictive coding, which uses computer learning and text analytics software, are on the cusp of changing manual review to technology-assisted review to reduce the volume of data and total cost of e-discovery.
