You hear it fairly often these days from serious software watchers: Apple is gaining ground in the enterprise. It’s still a Windows PC-dominated world, but thanks to the consumerization of IT, the ascendance of mobile computing, and the popularity of tablet devices like the iPad, more and more IT managers are not saying “no” to employees who want to use a Mac in the law firm. Add to these trends the looming launch of Microsoft’s paradigm-changing Windows 8 operating system, and Apple’s desktop computing platform is likely to get an even harder look from a growing number of firms.
This makes NewSoft Technology Corp.‘s release of a new edition of its Presto PageManager document management system for the Mac especially timely. The company first rolled out a Mac version of the product about 10 years ago without garnering much attention, admitted Johnson Yang, NewSoft America general manager. But PageManager 9 SE for the Mac, launched earlier this year, “is going to grab some eyeballs,” he said.
