Shortly after LegalTech New York, a colleague asked me about the “coolest” thing I saw at the show. Still suffering a bit from “product” shock, I could not recount anything that knocked my socks off after covering some of the new products at 2012 International CES and covering MacWorld iWorld in San Francisco, especially j5create’s Worm Hole. But then again, legal technology is not designed to get my feet bare, but help accomplish litigation strategy, client needs, and manage matters and the business of law. And like previous shows, LegalTech 2012 had plenty to see from e-discovery and computer forensics to practice management and office tools.

I covered some cool tools prior to the show, e.g., Index Engines Octane and iTwin’s reinvention of the USB drive to get secure access to your content without lending it to a third-party storage provider, i.e., cloud storage like Dropbox or perhaps Mozy’s new Stash. With Stash, you can copy files to a dedicated online space and synchronize them between multiple computers — no need to transfer files to USB or send them to yourself via email.
