Business file sharing specialist Accellion Inc. is preparing mobile software that will provide access to the Microsoft SharePoint and EMC Documentum content management systems, along with access to local file servers, the company announced Tuesday.
Accellion’s product is called Kitepoint and is scheduled to ship in December. Companies install the server at their location, to which users connect from an Apple iOS or Google Android application, or from a web browser. The server in turn communicates with SharePoint. A virtual private network isn’t needed, and the server provides administrators with audits and security features, explained Jon Pincus, senior vice president of products.
