CTO and chief scientist of OrcaTec, Dr. Herbert L. Roitblat, has received a patent (U.S. Patent No. 8,401,841) for the use of language modeling as a basis for concept search.
Instead of using dictionaries or pre-existing word sets, Roitblat’s method derives language data from analyzing the language of the document set itself. It can therefore be used with multiple languages, including non-alphabetic ones.
