Downers Grove, Ill.-based Microsystems released Tuesday version 4.0 of 3BClean, its server-based software that scrubs document metadata on email attachments. Its latest iteration adds monitoring and reporting and a simpler user interface for administrators.

3BClean removes metadata from Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, PDFs, and documents in .zip files as part of the normal outbound mailing process. It cleans metadata sent via mobile devices, desktops, Outlook Web mail, and batch processing. Version 4.0 improves cleaning policy updates across servers, updating attachments on sent items, and UI options for end-users.
