CRU Inc. introduced its CRU WiebeTech Ditto Forensic Fieldstation, a portable, remotely-controlled forensic imaging device. The Fieldstation can be set up locally by non-forensic specialists and operated remotely by forensic experts. It can be configured, administered, and operated over a network via computer, tablet, or smartphone, the Vancouver, Wash.-based company reports.
The Fieldstation is an aluminum unit that can perform stand-alone drive imaging and doesn’t require a host computer to acquire data residing on hard disk drives, network file shares, and media cards. It can simultaneously clone or image data sources to multiple target drives or network locations. Users can operate the device remotely with a web browser or use a menu system on the device.
