In blogs, user forum messages and elsewhere, untold numbers of Apple iPhone users have pleaded for the ability to create and edit Microsoft Office documents on their devices. But now that Microsoft has finally answered their appeals with Office Mobile for Office 365, many iPhone users are feeling empty.
Leading the litany of complaints is that the free app, listed in the iTunes app store, is available only to iPhone users who subscribe to Office 365, Microsoft's cloud-based Office software that sells for $100 per year. Attorneys and staff who use traditional standalone Office editions, such as Office 2013 or Office 2010, will have to continue typing and clicking on their desktop and notebooks systems.
