Guidance Software Inc. unveiled on Tuesday the Tableau T3iu Forensic SATA Imaging Bay. The new drive bay is designed to integrate into workstations using a single USB 3.0 host connection and perform write-blocking acquisitions of data on 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch SATA hard drives.

The T3iu package, which fits in one 5.25-inch half-height drive bay, is three forensic products in one. The drive bay can acquire data from SATA drives as fast as the drive will support and acquire data from solid-state drives up to 16 gigabytes per minute. The new bay can also cool and contain drives captured by other methods, e.g., the Tableau T35689iu Forensic Bridge Note that the USB 3.0 interconnect is hot-swappable, so changing drives in the bay is a fast, plug-and-play operation.
