California-based Western Digital Corp. recently announced the release of a family of personal cloud-storage products called My Cloud. The new products are designed for users to organize, centralize and secure digital content from all their Internet-connected devices. My Cloud works by connecting the personal cloud drive to the Internet from any device, without monthly fees or giving up control of personal data, according to a statement from the company.

Once the drive is connected to the Internet, a mobile device app (iOS or Android) or desktop application (Windows or Mac) allow you to transfer files to the cloud-connected drive and among PCs, tablet computers, and smartphones. The My Cloud drive will also back up files and stream video on demand.
