European companies finally have some capital to burn and an increase in information technology outsourcing contracts suggest they’re spending it wisely. They spent approximately €2.3 billion (USD 4.1 billion) on outsourcing deals in the third quarter of this year, 177 percent more than the previous quarter according to data from Information Services Group.

Out of 176 total outsourcing deals, 125 supported IT outsourcing—and nine of the ten largest deals were performed in Europe. “The sudden increase was partly because the previous two quarters were slow but more businesses are now investing in transformation projects rather than cost-reduction projects,” said John Keppel, in charge of northern Europe for ISG, to Computers Weekly.
