In January 2010 I reviewed Summation iBlaze 3 and praised its improved support for native electronic files. By the end of that year, Summation was acquired by AccessData Group, Inc. and I waited anxiously to see how the company would improve the software that helped defined document review over two decades ago. The wait is over with Summation 5 Pro.
Summation 5 is not a simple, long-awaited upgrade to a legacy Summation installation. The new Summation Pro and Express versions bear no resemblance to anything from the days of iBlaze. AccessData has kept some transcript management tools and the side panel is still called “Case Explorer,” but beyond that it’s Summation in name only.
