In a deal signaling a strategy shift for AccessData, which also helps create a new e-discovery service provider, OmniVere, the e-discovery and forensic software provider has sold its Litigation Support Services (LSS) business to Skokie, Illinois-based OmniVere. The deal, which IT analyst firm 451 Research estimates at between $18 million to $20 million, closed on May 5 and was announced by the companies today.

AccessData retains its Summation e-discovery software and will use the capital infusion from the deal to focus on its core incident response business with cybersecurity, digital forensics and e-discovery expertise. The newly formed OmniVere will become an AccessData hosting partner for Summation. Although the partnership with AccessData will make Summation a key focus of the new service provider, OmniVere will not be a one-platform shop because the new company is actually a combination of three acquired e-discovery service providers, as OmniVere looks to become a nationwide provider from day one.
