Blogging and publishing informative legal content on the Internet is one way that lawyers have reached new audiences and clients. Yet, perhaps not surprisingly, the American Bar Association’s 2014 TechReport found that only 10 percent of attorneys have blogs, which amounts to about 120,000 legal blogs in the entire “blogosphere—and the authors behind them often struggle with reaching the right audiences and relevant readers. Enter technology to streamline such a process.

Tech startup Casetext is a public legal research tool and online community that helps users to search millions of cases and statutes for free that are annotated with insights contributed by the legal community. Attorneys can integrate their existing law firm blogs onto Casetext’s platform, and automatically push posts to the platform when they’re ready. The tool links a lawyer’s commentary to relevant cases and statues, and can be “upvoted” by peers with the potential for it to be featured in email digests, according to Jake Heller, CEO of Casetext.
