Exterro Inc., a process automation software provider to in-house legal departments and IT groups in global 2000 organizations and maker of the Fusion E-Discovery platform, moved ahead in the information governance space on May 19, announcing File Analysis (FA) version 1. FA helps organizations formulate and implement policies to govern information, which includes information used in litigation and legal holds.
The first iteration of FA comprises three components: policy management, policy enforcement, and a reports and analytics piece. Policy management will support a policy library with a rules engine that uses stored policy definitions and regular expressions to find and identify information. Policy enforcement initially focuses on Microsoft Corp.’s SharePoint and network files shares. FA can publish custom metadata and tags to SharePoint data and distinguish a primary or “golden” document copy from duplicates and previous versions. FA will not affect the disposition of data, such as delete, archive or migrate, until version 2.
