Casetext Inc.’s namesake software as a service is an online repository of federal and state case law, statutes and regulations and a platform for legal professions to contribute legal analysis and commentary. The service recently released a new feature, called LegalPad, which is an online editor for authors to contribute content (posts) in a What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get (WYSIWYG) editor with a built-in mechanism to link primary and secondary legal sources within Casetext.

Popularly known as a crowdsourced legal research platform, Casetext combines primary legal research materials with user-contributed content. Users can search the law by case title, citation, keyword, and phrase and apply commonly known proximity limiters to search syntax, such as “discovery /n sanctions” where “n” equals the number of words that can come between the search terms.
