In the era of Big Data, the increasing concern among corporate legal departments over data protection and collection has led the Association of Corporate Counsel to start the ACC Information Governance Committee.

The committee will focus on data safety, use and retention, discovery procedures and records retention. In addition, there will be a focus on industry best practices regarding data privacy, archiving information, becoming litigation-ready for complex discovery requests and implementing information management systems that lower costs and increase efficiency in legal departments.
