Two organizations—Vermonters For Health Care Freedom (VHCF) and the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS)—have filed an amicus brief in a case now pending before the U.S. Supreme Court regarding patient privacy and data.
The case, Gobeille v. Liberty Mutual Insur. Co., relates to Liberty Mutual declining to release medical claims data to the State of Vermont on its insured members. The specific issue in this case is whether self-funded employer plans may be required to supply claims data to state all-payer claims databases (APCDs).
