Connected cars offer owners new and convenient ways to travel, but they also present a new and attractive point of exploitation for hackers. To help secure the next generation of vehicles from threats, Intel Corp. has announced the establishment of the Automotive Security Review Board on Sept. 14. The board will bring together a number of established security industry members, who will conduct audits and research designed to help the automotive industry combat this growing issue.
The creation of the Review Board builds on Intel’s support of connected car systems. In May, the company unveiled products and plans that support the advancement of automotive technology. These plans included the release of a hardware platform designed to help automobile manufacturers bring connected features to their vehicles more quickly, as well as continued investment in automotive research.
