Computing giant IBM has announced the creation of a new business unit specifically designed to facilitate the development of Internet of Things technologies. The company announced on Sept. 14 that the newly-created department will be led by the former CEO of the Thomas Cook Group, Harriet Green, who will join as vice president and general manager of the company’s newly minted IoT and Education business units.

IBM announced in March that it will invest $3 billion over the next four years to develop new tools and technologies that further the ever-growing Internet of Things. The company will focus on industry-specific technologies and says that it has already aided organizations in the meteorological and communication fields to address their IoT needs.
