The legal industry is arriving at an understanding when it comes to the frequency and overall gravity of data breaches. Standing out among the array of statistics: 80 percent of the 100 largest law firms in the United States have been successfully hacked since 2011, and for the first time, security management is viewed as the biggest challenge facing legal IT departments.
This understanding has led to a greater focus and increased spending on cybersecurity. Firms will typically spend more than $6.9 million annually on information security, or 1.92 percent of their gross annual revenues. However, history has shown that the answer isn’t quite as simple as the amount of money you throw at the problem.
