The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has frequently offered aid to organizations in the war against cybercrime, creating benchmarks and best practices to guide companies in their cyberdefense policies. On Nov. 4, the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) wing of NIST opened its guide for improving mobile device security to public comment with the intention of codifying feedback and releasing a more in-depth report sometime in 2016.

The “NIST Cybersecurity Practice Guide, Special Publication 1800-4: ‘Mobile Device Security: Cloud & Hybrid Builds’” offers lessons for organizations who utilize cloud and mobile devices in their network ecosystems. The publication offers a collection of how-to-guides and briefings developed by NIST and other expert parties, as well as resources to guide the review of system architecture, policies and security tools that support cloud and mobile deployments.
