Just a few weeks back, a gloriously sunny autumn morning in the Northeast perfectly encapsulated the mood of my just-turned-17-year-old-son as he proudly texted me a picture of his hot-off-the-press New Jersey State driver’s license. He was flying high. Me, not so much, especially when I noticed he included the actual driver’s license number in his picture, something that turned out to be a good teaching tool on identify theft, but that’s a story for another day.
Even the dreaded call to my insurance company to learn what my incremental premium would be seemed insignificant juxtaposed against the upcoming worries my wife and I were certain to incur as my son motored his way, unfettered, throughout the Garden State. Although we knew it was coming, we weren’t really ready for it.
