Businesses are anxiously awaiting more details from Europe on what will replace an earlier EU Safe Harbor framework after it was ruled invalid in October by the European Court of Justice, as well as await the final version of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

When it comes to the Safe Harbor issue, businesses that use cloud storage based in the United States, may be in violation of future EU regulations when it comes to data transfers. This is causing “uncertainty” as businesses wait for a second version of Safe Harbor, according to Fazal Sadikali, director of cloud first applications at Accenture.
