Currently, there are about 300 full-time federal prosecutors working on cybersecurity. That may be a number that sounds large, but consider the number of individual cyberattacks there are in a day, let alone a year. Suddenly, that number no longer sounds so large, does it?
A lack of cybersecurity resources, as well as the resulting tension that private businesses face as a result, provided a major focus at the “Crystal Ball: What Do You Think the Next Big Cybercrime Will Be?” panel at ALM cyberSecure on Dec. 16 in New York City. The panelists at this event included Matt Blake, CEO of Franklin Data; Jason Maloni, senior vice president and chair of the litigation practice LEVICK; and Edward McAndrew, assistant U.S. attorney and cybercrime coordinator at the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
