With the potential to generate stockholder lawsuits, regulatory action and reputational damage, cybersecurity events have increasingly come under the purview of the legal department. General counsel are commonly members of the response teams tasked with evaluating the effects and required actions of such events, despite a plethora of additional responsibilities that must be juggled on a regular basis.
At the upcoming Legaltech New York panel, “Cybersecurity: GCs on the Front Lines,” experts will discuss the new organizational reality brought on by cybersecurity needs and provide legal department leaders with a baseline for fulfilling their obligations in the context of these challenges. In addition to others, currently confirmed panel members will include Jason Straight, chief privacy officer of UnitedLex, and Todd Ruback, chief privacy officer of Ghostery Industries.
