Data management is an increasingly vital tool for legal organizations, particularly as most organizations retain data for much longer than is necessary. Preserving data in preparing for litigation can lead to over-preservation. But tools exist to help mitigate risk when having to sift through archives of data, disabling organizations from responding accurately and efficiently. Kroll Ontrack recently launched Ontrack DataAdvisor, a product designed to tackle cost and risk associated with legacy data management of this kind.

The Ontrack DataAdvisor is a data management solution that consolidates backup catalogs from various systems and mediums into a single, searchable inventory, aiming to help organizations eliminate legacy maintenance costs. In speaking to Legaltech News, Todd R. Johnson, vice president of data and storage technologies, Americas & Asia Pacific for Kroll Ontrack, said that the company heard from clients directly and observed in the market a need to mitigate risk.
