The classic expression “between a rock and a hard place” is meant to connote a situation with two outcomes, both of which are unfavorable. As an attorney or business professional, this is not an expression that will win you friends in your Friday staff meeting.

Unfortunately, many companies find themselves between a rock and a hard place when it comes to cybersecurity. On the one hand, before a breach occurs, companies should invest resources – financial and otherwise – to protecting data and technology systems. These cybersecurity hygiene and breach prevention steps have an immediate impact on revenue and operations.
