The pervasiveness of Shadow IT in organizations has many in legal tech industry wondering two critical things: Just how ingrained is shadow IT in modern businesses; and if employees know the practice is detrimental to a company, why are so many continuing to use these unauthorized applications in the workplace?

A recent survey by NTT Communications of 500 employees, equally spilt between the IT department and business roles, from companies in the UK, France, Germany and Spain sought to provide some insights on the realities of unsanctioned app use.
