In taking operations global, many businesses are confronted with legal-related dilemmas never previously faced. Touching upon this realm is employee hiring, a practice whose conduct relies on laws that differentiate in jurisdictions within and beyond borders. Given the patchwork of standards and opinions that inevitably ensue, finding the right candidate for an international role can prove difficult.

In effort to aid organizations through the hiring process is global law firm Mayer Brown, which on April 29 released “A Global Guide to Background Checks.” The work provides an overview of both practical and legal issues surrounding background check processes in 50 jurisdictions in Asia, the Americas and EMEA.
