Many businesses are preparing for the new data rules coming from the European Union [EU]. These include the General Data Protection Regulation [GDPR] – which relates to the export of personal data to areas outside of Europe – and the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield – which leads to new obligations on U.S. companies to protect Europeans’ personal data.

In response to these new rules, some 84 percent of privacy professionals responded in the 2016 EU GDPR and EU-US Privacy Shield Survey, released by Baker & McKenzie, that they anticipate that the GDPR will impact their organizations.
