With legal departments increasingly targeted by cybercriminals, the need for outsourced security providers is strong. But many providers are failing to protect against advanced cyberthreats, according to Raytheon’s “Don’t Wait: The Evolution of Proactive Threat Hunting,” a survey of 1,784 CISOs and senior IT security leaders in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

The survey found that the security offered by managed security services providers (MSSP) is slow to adapt to today’s evolved cyberthreats, despite organizations’ desire for proactive protection. Around 70 percent of respondents noted that their cybersecurity provider did not use advanced analytics or provide incident response, while slightly under 50 percent said they did not effectively mitigate threats or comply with data protection requirements.
