While in-house legal teams have historically outsourced many services to law firms, AOL’s recent adoption of Exterro’s e-discovery has provided some significant cost and efficiency benefits for its legal team. In a webinar hosted by Exterro, Tara Jones, head paralegal for litigation at AOL, shared key insights from AOL’s process of rolling out its new e-discovery management platform for its in-house legal team.

1. Assess your needs

Today, AOL has a fairly high reliance on its e-discovery management software. According to Jones, the company currently has about 80 active cases open, and about 750 active legal hold custodians. While the majority of cases are internal investigations, the company also regularly takes on external and intellectual property litigation with huge e-discovery needs.
