K2 Intelligence and Confer have partnered to provide a managed security service. Under this offering, K2 Intelligence – an investigative, compliance and cyber defense services firm – will monitor computers, servers and laptops remotely using Confer’s Converged Endpoint Security Platform, and if a security issue arises, former FBI investigators are on hand to manage the situation.

By using the analytics technology, investigators can prevent potential cyber incidents, which are often not picked up by traditional antivirus solutions, the firm said. These include zero day exploits or viruses whose signatures have yet to be identified and incorporated in antivirus programs. For example, using Confer technology, K2 Intelligence remotely identified ransomware on a client’s computer, quarantined the file and disconnected the infected computer from a network before the malware was able to spread.
