Since the public unveiling of the Portable Document Format (PDF) in 1993, people often solely associate the format with Adobe Systems. However, in 2008 the company turned the format over to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) – making it an open standard.

Now PDFs – and the software used to create and edit them – can be found in almost every organization across the globe through a host of different vendor choices. Nuance Communications, provider of speech and imaging solutions commonly known for its Dragon Speech Recognition software, has announced the release of Power PDF 2.
