A group of over 50 attorneys from more than 40 U.S. law firms came together recently to launch the Digital Currency and Ledger Defense Coalition (DCLDC), an organization focused on providing legal expertise and representation to those looking to transform blockchain technology into an array of enterprise applications.

Blockchains, which use an algorithm-based security mechanism called cryptographic hashing to “time stamp” and validate transactions, are the technology behind the digital currency bitcoin.
