A significant amount of in-house counsel rely on manual tools to manage legal projects and perform most projects internally instead of outsourcing, according to “Exterro Inc’s “2016 In-house Legal Benchmarking Report,” a survey of 76 in-house counsel professionals from a range of positions including paralegal, litigation support, attorney and general counsel.
The report found that while 90 percent of respondents agreed that legal projects should have consistent and formal processes, only about 70 percent described their legal project management as one with defined roles and processes, and dedicated budgets.
