For e-discovery vendors, trying to capture a full conversation from start to finish has become a technological game of whack a mole. While work-related communications may have initially been contained exclusively within e-mails, they now jump across multiple technologies – a conversation that starts in email may bounce across social media platforms, text messages, and Skype as people now move through their days.
E-discovery software provider Smarsh is no stranger to this challenge. The company, whose software is known for its ability to capture social media data, is taking a stab at bringing text messages into the fold. To do so, the company has acquired MobileGuard, a software provider that focuses specifically on mobile data retention.
