Cloudflare Inc.’s legal team revealed it has been under a gag order—for four years. The order was the result of the federal government’s national security letter, or NSL, it sent to the company’s legal team in December 2012.

Four years ago, law enforcement requested the personal information of a single customer from the San Francisco web performance and cybersecurity company. And Cloudflare refused to hand over the information.
