This week in The New York Times, Tamar Lewin reported on the growing trend of infants and smartphone use. Her conclusion? It’s up.
Lewin cites a recent study by Common Sense Media, which found that 38 percent of children under two had used mobile devices like Apple Inc.’s iPhones and iPads and Amazon Kindles. Comparatively, a similar survey conducted two years ago found that approximately that many children aged eight and under were using media devices. Perhaps this is partly due to the fact that 40 percent of families now own a tablet — up from 8 percent two years ago.
