Just when employers thought they had “bring your own device” policies figured out, there’s another piece of technology soon coming to the workplace to contend with, and that’s Google Glass. On Jackson Lewis’ blog, Joseph Lazzarotti discusses how companies may be challenged when faced with the new devices.
“Employers may experience productivity losses as employees focus on their Glass eyepiece and not their managers, coworkers, customers,” warns Lazzarotti. The eyepieces may also potentially cause safety risks as well as privacy ones—they can be used to record audio and video and can easily capture large amounts of data. This could “add to the challenges businesses have to avoid spoliation of data in these additional repositories of potentially relevant evidence,” he says.
