What is as thin as a Razr, more powerful than a Treo and weighs less than 5 ounces? Why, the Future Lawyer’s new Motorola Q smartphone, of course. I’ve had it a week now, and it’s the coolest, lightest tech device I’ve ever used.

How does it compare with the Palm Treo 650 and 700p phones, and the T-Mobile MDA Vario, all of which I’ve owned and used? The first, and most important, consideration is that each of the three uses a different operating system. However, if you are going to choose a smartphone, or phone/PDA device, you need to understand the differences between them, and the compromises required, depending on which phone you choose.
