Electronic devices are no longer taboo in South Florida federal courthouses, but violators of the court’s new rules regulating such gadgets could face jail time and stiff fines.
Jury members, clients and the general public will be allowed to carry mobile phones, personal digital assistants, laptop computers, pagers and tape recorders into federal courthouse facilities in the Southern District if they receive permission from a federal judge “or other designated authority.”
