A well-planned litigation-response plan is a key component of an organization’s records-management program. It allows a company to achieve a clear understanding of its legal obligations while minimizing expenses and business disruption.

The LRP is a crucial part of the e-discovery process and should include input from key company individuals, general counsel, outside counsel, corporate human-resources, IT staff and — if desired — outside EDD consultants. Members of records-management and disaster-recovery teams may also provide insight and information about the location of potentially relevant electronic documents.
