IBM and Intel Corp., along with dozens of other companies, have developed a proposal to enhance PCI Express technology — which allows parts of computer hardware to speak to each other — to address the evolving needs of next-generation computer platforms, the companies said Wednesday.
The proposal, codenamed “Geneseo,” outlines improvements to the technology that will allow for faster connections between the processor (the computer’s brain), and application accelerators, which make computers run faster.
