After seeing the movie “An Inconvenient Truth” I became an instant convert — determined to educate people about how excessive use of energy releases too much carbon dioxide into our atmosphere, which generates potentially catastrophic climate changes. When the DVD was released in November, I bought 10 copies and gave them to family and friends, asking them to pass them along after watching the movie. But I wanted to do more.

The documentary, narrated by Al Gore, is framed upon a powerful slide show. I learned that The Climate Project was offering training sessions for citizens willing to take the slide show on the road. So with the blessing of my firm, Thompson & Hine, where I am director of business development, I applied for the January sessions in Nashville, Tenn. Despite fierce competition, I was accepted. Also in our group was Oakland, Calif.-based mediation consultant Stewart Levine.
