Palm Inc. sounded very much like a company that planned on remaining independent Tuesday when it hosted an analyst meeting and discussed nearly everything but the persistent rumors that the smart phone maker will soon be acquired.
During the meeting in New York, Palm chief executive Ed Colligan and other senior executives covered the company’s plans to expand internationally and improve its product design and performance, including offering products running on Linux by the end of 2007. But they skirted the intense speculation of the past several weeks that it was in talks to be acquired.
