If the world is going paperless, then Jott Networks Inc. wants to be the Post-it note of the electronic era.

The one-year-old company, which is expected on Monday to announce a $5.4 million round in Series A funding led by Bain Capital of Boston, is developing a service that lets users turn their spoken comments into text messages and e-mails. Other participants in the funding include previous investors Draper Richards of San Francisco, Ackerly Partners of Seattle and Luxembourg-based Atomico, the investment firm of Skype founder Niklas Zennstrom.
