“One of our litigation partners came to me recently with a query from a long-term client who had not given us a lot of business lately,” says Christopher Batio of Washington, D.C.-based Crowell & Moring.

“The client had been contacted by an overseas company who wanted to do business with them. But the client wasn’t familiar with the overseas company or its U.S. representative, an attorney in Washington, D.C.” So the litigator asked Batio to find out “who these people are, and whether [the client] should consider doing business with them.”
